Teachers Appreciation Lunch

August is that special time of year when summer is ending and the school year is beginning. Back to School Month in August gears up parents, teachers, schools, and students for a season of education. While it is always important to recognize how much teachers matter, this past year is especially significant. Teachers really were our pandemic heroes. Many made the drastic adjustments to teach remotely using zoom, FaceTime and social media. Others have borne the risk of exposure in order to teach classes in person. According to the American Federation of Teachers at least 530 teachers died of covid.

All of us can remember one or more teachers who made a difference in our lives, someone who took the time to encourage us, tutor us, help us get past the hurdles and find the open doors to our future. As a special recognition to residents who had a career in teaching, we invite you to a special luncheon on Friday August 16th. Come and share your memories and stories with your fellow teachers.
